The North Bristol Post 16 Centre results for the academic year 2008/09 were excellent, with the first group of students to go though the new centre doing brilliantly. This reflects well on the standard of teaching at the Centre, which was formed in 2007, combining the Cotham School post 16 centre at Charnwood House with the new one at Redland Green School, a quarter of a mile down the road.

  • The overall pass rate was over 99%, and more than 25% of all entries were A grade.
  • Ten percent of students achieved 3 or more A grades.
  • Seven students will be taking up their offers of places at Oxford and Cambridge and three will begin courses in medicine.
  • In mathematics, French, German, performing arts, classical civilisation and art textiles the results were outstanding with over seventy percent of students getting A and B grades.
  • Mathematics and science represent 1 in 5 of all entries. The results in these subjects show a real strength of the centre.
  • Performing arts results were outstanding with ninety-one per cent achieving A-B grades, building on the success of Cotham School, which is also a High Performing Specialist School with specialisms in Performing Arts, Maths and Computing.

We want to congratulate all our students and wish them well as they take up their places at university, employment or begin their gap year. The Post 16 Centre will have over 800 students this academic year and we wish them well with their studies and look forward to challenging and supporting them in their achievements.
