Review: Super Mario Bros for the Wii
Mario is a familiar face even for the non-gamers of the world. The games have been around for years and years, and Nintendo yet again proven why the franchise is such a success. Being the only game with a red box instead of the uniform white, New Super Mario Bros. Wii stands out from every other game on the shelf.
The story is the same as every other Mario game before it, the only difference being the addition of Bower's minions who provide mid-way and end bosses for each stage. The game follows the classic 2D format of the original games, but with the addition of new power-ups (including the penguin suit with "mwob-mwob-mwob" replacing the traditional power-up noise) and multiplayer option, the game gains some originality from the old games.
It has to be said, the multi-player option was a stroke of genius, the only draw back to it being a reluctance to return to playing alone. The game allows up to four players, and an increase in players leads to an increase in chaos. This new feature adds a whole new level of enjoyment to the game. You can try to work cooperatively, usually on the harder levels where the worst player will undoubtedly die many-a-time and have to be carried to the end, or sabotage your fellow players with the simple pleasure of picking them up and throwing them across the screen.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a brilliant game by bringing the multiplayer-entertainment of the Ninetendo Wii to the classic Mario set up.
