School news: Student Leadership Group
Cotham School has recently formed a Student Leadership Group. This is a group of students chosen to represent each year. It's a great way to get students opinions and ideas across and give them a chance to have a say in decisions made within the school. This is also useful for the teachers to find about what students think of the school and ways they can help to make school a happier place for everyone.
The Student Leadership Group is a group of around 30 people. From that 30 we split in to sub-groups all working on different projects. Here are some examples of the projects being worked on at the moment... fundraising for a new school hall we have raised 60k so far and now must raise another £22,000 to reach our goal! A new zebra crossing in the Cotham area as many pupils walk to school, researching ways to improve lessons and we are also working on a charity project for Haiti.
In addition the student leadership representatives are setting up many ways for students to contact them including a suggestion box, an e-mail address and the opportunity to discuss important issues in tutor times and assemblies. Hopefully this will give our students the chance to voice their thoughts and to see their ideas put into practice.
