Why should I follow this course?

In this applied A level course you will find out and apply the working methods used by professionals in the art and design sector. You will be able to focus on specific pathways such as photography, textiles, or graphic design but you will also gain a broad understanding of art and design principles. You will gain an understanding of how others use visual language in both 2D and 3D materials yourself and you will apply this knowledge to a project brief. There are no written examinations for this course.

What teaching and learning methods will be used?

We will use a variety of teaching methods to help you learn and successfully complete your units. You will be encouraged to experiment with different media and echniques, to carry out investigations, to work to a client-centred brief, to build up a portfolio, and to find out about the working methods of professionals.

What can I do when I have my qualification?

By studying this course you will gain a knowledge and understanding of art and design. This is excellent preparation for a career in the art and design sector, but also for further study on an art foundation course, or directly onto a degree course in a related field.

What minimum qualification will I need?

NBP16C level 3 entry requirement and evidence of ability in the art and design sector, such as grade C in GCSE art or a similar vocational qualification.
