Why should I follow this course?
If you have enjoyed studying art at GCSE level and want to extend your skills, this is the course for you! You will explore working with a broad range of media, including traditional and new media and technologies. You will extend your knowledge of contemporary and historical art through looking at the work of past societies and cultures and you will use this knowledge to develop your own investigative work.
What will I learn?
AS level

A2 level
- Personal investigation - practical unit
- Externally set practical assignment - 15 hours
What teaching and learning methods will be used?
You will learn through a variety of practical workshops and demonstrations. You will receive contextual lectures to build your knowledge of art practice. You will be given one to one support during lessons to discuss your ideas and receive suggestions on how to develop your work. Each term you will contribute to a crit evening to share ideas with your peers. We will work with artists-in-residence and visit gallery exhibitions.
What can I do when I have my qualification?
Pursuing A level art will provide you with the experience you need to move on to an art foundation course, HND or equivalent, all of which will allow you to embark on a degree course in your chosen field.
What minimum qualification will I need?
NBP16C level 3 entry requirement and evidence of ability in the art and design sector, such as grade C in GCSE art or a similar vocational qualification.
