Why should I follow this course?
This course will enable you to explore both the frailties and the wonders of living organisms and the environments and ecosystems they occupy. It will enable you to appreciate how society makes decisions about biology-related issues and how these decisions affect the well-being of both our economy and society as a whole. Your studies will enable you to develop practical and investigative skills and compare these to how scientists work in current research contexts.

What teaching and learning methods will be used?
Students will learn independently and in pair and group situations, both in practical and theoretical contexts. Discussion and teacher-led learning are important complementary approaches. There are a range of on-line activities specifically designed to support this course which can be accessed independently. Coursework is supported through a residential field study.
What can I do when I have my qualification?
Biology A level is excellent preparation for studying a range of degree programmes including medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacology, physiology, ecology and environmental science. A level biology students learn and develop skills that allow them to communicate, analyse, criticise, argue and discuss. They are numerate and literate and are able to present data and information in a variety of different ways. These are invaluable skills for further study of any degree discipline and for all lines of work.
What minimum qualification will I need?
NBP16C level 3 entry requirement, including BB in science.
