Why should I follow this course?

This is a ONE year course, equivalent to 4 GCSE passes at grade C or above. You will gain knowledge and understanding of a range of issues related to other caring professions. Through practical research this course will give you the opportunity to develop skills and qualities necessary for work in this field. The course offers a variety of topics including researching different care settings, investigating job roles within these settings, looking at how we change and develop during our lives and how we cope with changes such as leaving home, marriage and parenthood.

What teaching and learning methods will be used?

A variety of teaching methods will be used, including working independently and as part of a team, completing short tasks and longer projects, visiting local health care services and interviewing staff and service users, work experience, research and presentations.

What can I do when I have my qualification?

When you have successfully completed this course you may progress to either AS courses at the centre or elsewhere, or to BTEC national courses. For AS courses at this centre you will need to achieve a merit in your level 2 course. This course is also excellent preparation for employment or training, especially within the health, social care, and early years sectors.

What minimum qualification will I need?

Four GCSE passes grade D or the equivalent.
