Minimum requirement for entry onto the course

NBP16C level 3 entry requirement, including a grade 4 in GCSE dance or drama; a BTEC Certificate in Performing Arts. Other performing arts related qualifications will be considered.

  

Why should I follow this course?

Are you passionate about Dance and Drama? The BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts is a two year full time course, nationally recognised as an equivalent to one A-level. This course enables students to explore dance and drama through a series of mandatory and optional units and gain practical experience of inclusive theatre practice. By the end of the course you'll have a sound grounding in all the disciplines which make up the performing arts.

What will you learn?

This is a practical course for students who are interested in all aspects of performing. It helps you understand what goes into managing a successful performance with the opportunity to experience performing in both dance and Drama.  You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of different styles and gain an insight into the world of the professional performer.

What learning and teaching methods will be used?

This is a practical, hands-on course encouraging experimentation and independent learning. You will produce written evidence to back up your practical work. You will be expected to manage your own rehearsal time, learn lines, choreograph parts, and write reviews as homework. Learning is by planning, doing, seeing and reflecting.  You will work as an individual and in groups and you will perform to a wide range of audiences. When possible we will invite professional practitioner's in to work with you.

What can I do with my qualification?

The course offers a uniquely practical pathway into a wide range of professional options, including further education, training or relevant employment. You will have developed skills in communication, co-operation, planning and evaluation which will be valued in all walks of life.
