Advice: Combating the Winter Blues

Winter is a hard time for everyone. The weather is cold, the days are short, and what there is of them is dull and ugly as trees are bare and grass turns to mud. Winter never seems to end, continuing from the end of November to late March, making that Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) you may have a little harder to shake off.

However, here are a few little tips on how to keep smiling through the coldest time of year.

Wrap up warm. You won't feel cold if you are nice and snug in layers of jumpers. And lets face it, being warm when you know everyone else is freezing is a wonderfully smug feeling.

Turn up the Volume. Pull all your favourite music together and listen to it as loud as you can! Singing along to your happiest tunes will undoubtedly make things feel better.

Treat Yourself. The Sales may be finishing, but some good deals may still be lingering. Don't be afraid of shelling out a little if it cheers you up every now and then.

Comfort Food. While comfort eating may be bad, the winter is a good time for eating 'comfort foods'. Eating a filling, warming and also healthy meal, such as a casserole, is a great way to unwind after a long day.
