Welcome to the Alumni area of the North Bristol Post 16 Centre. Here you will find news and features about our past students and their achievements since leaving the Post 16 Centre.


Lucy Creamer

Ex-Cotham School student Lucy Creamer is one of the most accomplished female climbers in Britain and is currently seven times British climbing champion.

Over the summer Lucy has been busy helping the BBC film a new TV series, Climbing Great Buildings. As the climbing expert she has been helping presenter Dr Jonathan Foyle scale 15 historic buildings in Britain using various roped access techniques. Building’s they have climbed include Caernarfon Castle, Durham Cathedral and Burghley House.

The series has already started and you can watch Lucy and Jonathan climb some of Britain’s most iconic buildings every weekday night on BBC 2 at 6.30pm. Alternatively, go online to the BBC iplayer and watch all the episodes that have been shown so far.

Emil Huckle-Kleve

Emil left the Post 16 Centre in 2008 and has a scholarship to study the violin at the Royal College of Music. He recently played with the UWE Orchestra at the Colston Hall as a soloist.


Annie Syrett

Annie, a student at Cotham School from 1997 to 2004, is working amongst street kids in Bolivia. Whilst at university she registered her own charity (Friends of Alalay, Santa Cruz) in the UK and has worked to help the kids become more self-sufficient. She has raised money to:

  • build a playground
  • educate and feed street kids
  • re-drain and re-plumb their centre
  • re-roof and re-decorate cabins
  • repair the school bus
  • extend the bakery
  • buy hundreds of chickens so that the street kids can eat and sell the eggs
  • set up a vast irrigated market garden where the street kids grow and later sell their own food.

Benjamin Spencer

Benjamin left Cotham School to study at Balliol College, Oxford University. The college wrote to us recently to update us on his progress.

"Benjamin has continued to respond extremely well to the challenges of academic life at Oxford and in recognition has been promoted to a Donald Michie Scholar."  Dr Trott, Balliol College

He is studying Maths and Computer Studies.


David Matthews

David studied History at Pembroke College, Oxford University. He graduated with a first class honours degree.


Felix Palmer

Felix studied Physics at Oriel College, Oxford University. He graduated with a first class honours degree.


Clare Stevens

Clare studied at University College London. She received a first class BA degree in Egyptian Archaeology.


Joseph Michael Wellman

Joseph studied Mathematics with Economics at University College London. He left with a first class BSc honours degree.
