Celebrating our Oxbridge Offers
As it is the custom this time of year, Oxford and Cambridge send out offers of university places to successful applicants and scores of North Bristol students camp anxiously next to their letterboxes ( or inboxes) to wait the arrival of news.
This year was another good year North Bristol students gained a handful of offers for places in Medicine, Law, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music and Geography.
Marian Curran, Director said “We are delighted this year to have 6 offers, and that these involve students from across the curriculum. We have a lot of ambitious high-flyers at the North Bristol Post 16 Centre and they don’t always come from comfortable, privileged backgrounds, so it is a great joy for us to help them achieve the best they can. We are grateful to some of our alumni for their support in helping prepare students for the rigours of the Oxbridge interview and to members of staff who have given our students mock interviews. I couldn’t be more proud of these students and indeed any North Bristol Post 16 student who strives to be the best that they can. I think these success stories are not just the result of the excellent teaching we deliver, but from the inclusive, vibrant and diverse community we endeavour to foster here."
We find that students aspirations are higher than ever, especially as they will be paying so much for their education now. We offer them every opportunity to hone the written and interpersonal skills required to succeed in these competitive situations. In particular, we have dedicated staff to help with Oxbridge applications.
But of course the North Bristol Post 16 Centre is not all about Oxbridge, 90% of our students go on to study at many other great universities and many of our current Year 13 students are receiving fantastic UCAS offers.
