Sport News: Bristol School's Athletics Finals
On Thursday, 21 January, a team of 6 boys from Year 10 at Cotham School gathered after hours to compete in the Bristol School's Athletics Final at Oasis Brightstow. Lead by Mr Collin, James B, Bill, Xav, James C, Django and Jack qualified for the final after winning the first round. The event also consisted of teams from St. Bedes, St. Bernadettes and Fairfield.
They started with field events where Django and Jack stormed the long jump grabbing first and second place, while James C was the SpeedBounce superstar! Later were the track events where Bill and Xav started off by both gaining 2nd place in their 2 lap sprint heats. Not long after, James and James shared a tiring 8 laps between them. In a last minute decision they opted to share them 2,4,2 instead of the usual tactic of 2,2,2,2; and it paid off as they won by some way. All in all, the event provided fun for all involved but Cotham came out on top, beating a very worthy St. Bernadettes team by just one point! James B, team captain said "I can't believe it. We've never been on better form so to win it now feels fantastic. This is our last Bristol Schools Athletics event so it's great to leave on such a high."
