YAAC
Welcome to our world…
We are YAAC. The Young Arnolfini Artists Collective - 10 students from North Bristol post 16 Centre, aged 16-18, all of whom enjoy immersing ourselves in anything art related. Not just the classic painting and drawing. We like just about anything, from photography, music and film, to dance, fashion and theatre and everything in between.
We’re lucky enough to be able to work with the lovely people at Arnolfini, and to collaborate with established artists to plan and deliver events, all working towards making art more accessible for young people. As the “younger generation” ourselves, we have first hand experience as to how out of touch the art world can seem for young people, and our aim is to bridge this gap and bring the two together.
We are the second generation of YAAC, with the group before us (also students from North Bristol Post 16) working with the Arnolfini from October 2009 - July 2010. We’ve been given the privilege of building on their amazing work, and collaborating with the Arnolfini from November 2010 - July 2011, so look out for us breaking out of our classrooms, frolicking around the gallery, and infiltrating the space with an abundance of ideas, artwork, talks, discussions and workshops.
