Why should I study this course?

This is a one-year course which will equip you with the necessary academic skills needed for future life – whether it be employment or higher study, as well as developing your knowledge of subjects within the realm of the Social Sciences, such as Sociology and Psychology. The emphasis is on applied learning and assessment.  If you are good at coursework and are a good team player then this is the course for you.

What will I learn?

The course covers a broad range of modules, from Basic Arithmetic Skills, Skills for Effective Learning and Referencing Skills, onto more specific Social Science-based modules, such as Introduction to Sociology and Psychology. Your course will culminate in completing a Project in Sustainability. Each topic will be taught in a real-world context.

How will I learn?

The course is practical with a mixture of teacher-led activities. The majority of the course will be developing your skills of working independently through coursework.

What can I do with my qualification?

When you have successfully completed this course, alongside the other courses on your foundation pathway, you may progress to A level and/or BTEC Level 3 courses.  This course is also excellent preparation for employment or training.
